About the artist: Anne Dimit-Buckley
Anne Dimit-Buckley lives in Indianapolis, IN with her husband in a beautiful home built in the 1880’s near downtown. She is now splitting time between Indy & Elephant Butte NM. Anne has been a seamstress most of her life and began quilting and dying fabrics in the 1980’s. Most of her unique one-of-kind quilts are her own designs and many include images in Batik. She mostly works in a free-form style, using many different types of fabric from fine silk to carpet, chosen for color and texture. Within a quilt, Anne uses a combination of techniques to create the intended image.
Her “Recycle” pieces are totally made from discards including plastic bags which have been used for quilt batting. Her use of recycled fabric and other other everyday products represents the choice we are making between a lush green earth and a dull dead earth.
Anne has also worked with designing custom furniture and designing costumes.
During the last 10 years glass work has been added to her repertoire.
Her Healing Hearts jewlery line represent the healing love that is in and around us. Many have been given as gifts to friends going through rough times. 50% of all profits from these unique one-of-a-kind heart pieces are donated to battered shelters to help men, women and children end the cycle of abuse.
Her popular Black & White pieces are a combination of black, white, and clear glass with occasional bits of bright dichroic color added. A few have only black and clear glass allowing the color of what they are worn over to show through.
Wild and crazy jewelry is colorful and fun.
Earrings are small versions of pendants. Due to the lack of predictability when firing the glass, it is nearly impossible to get them to look the same. To Anne these differences create interest and show that the pieces are hand made rather than mass produced. Perfect symmetry can be a bit boring.
